Product Introduction
When existing clamps on a power line fail, the safety backup clamp can take over the mechanical function of tensioning the conductor while maintaining electrical conductivity. This enhances the overall safety and reliability of the transmission line system.
Applications
Safety backup clamps are primarily used at crossings where high-voltage transmission lines intersect critical infrastructure, such as electrified railways and highways.
Designed by PALP, the safety backup clamp provides an additional layer of protection for existing tension and suspension clamps on both sides of such crossing spans. In the event of an unexpected conductor or ground wire breakage at the crossing, the safety backup clamp prevents serious accidents caused by falling wires. It also buys crucial time for emergency repairs, allowing the line to remain operational until full maintenance is completed, thereby improving the stability of the power supply system.
In the event of a failure of the conductor or ground wire tension clamp, this product can immediately engage, providing a reliable mechanical grip to prevent the wires from falling and ensuring the continuous current-carrying capacity of the circuit.
Product Features
If issues arise with the tension clamp's jumper plate, such as excessive temperature rise, the product acts as a parallel current-carrying path. This ensures the compression-type tension clamp is protected from burn-through, significantly eliminating the risk of wire breakage.
